Best Air Purifiers Under $300 (2026)

The best air purifier under $300 for most homes is the Levoit Core 600S. Its 391 CFM smoke CADR covers a 600 sq ft open living area, its filter costs about $60 a year, and it sells for $280–$320, so a normal week's price usually lands under $300. When the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max is on sale, it beats the Levoit on airflow. If you want a Coway with no app and no ionizer, the Coway Airmega 350 is the pick.

This page covers the $200–$300 band. For a small bedroom or a tighter budget, our best air purifiers under $200 and under $100 lists go further down the price range. All prices below are typical street ranges for October 2026, not live quotes.

Room size is smoke CADR × 1.55, our standard for about 4.8 air changes an hour under an 8 ft ceiling. The 3-year cost is the price range plus three years of filters at the rate shown; electricity is handled further down.

What the extra $100 over a $200 purifier gets you

  • About 100–180 more CFM. The strongest sub-$200 units stop near 250 CFM. In this band, 352–435 CFM is normal, which moves you from a 390 sq ft room to a 550–675 sq ft one.
  • Not lower running costs. Filter bills here run from $60 to $140 a year, and the biggest-airflow unit has the biggest bill.
  • A choice about ionizers. Two brands in this band charge particles electrically and four don't. The picks below say which is which.

Best overall under $300: Levoit Core 600S

Levoit Core 600S air purifier

Mid-range · 391 CFM CADR · 606 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

The Levoit Core 600S is the cheapest way to clean a 600 sq ft room without an ongoing filter habit. Its 391 CFM smoke rating gives an 18 × 33 ft open-plan space close to five air changes an hour, and the replacement filter runs about $60 a year, roughly what small bedroom units cost to feed. At $280–$320 that works out to $0.72–$0.82 per CFM.

Smart features are the full Levoit set: a sensor-driven auto mode, the VeSync app and schedules. It lists a 26 dB floor and 55 dB at the top, and its 49 W maximum means even nonstop full-speed running costs about $73 a year at $0.17/kWh. There's no ionizer of any kind. The catch is size and price creep: some weeks it sits at $320, and at that point a sale on the Blueair below gives you more airflow for the same money.

Most airflow on sale: Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max

Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max air purifier

Mid-range · 435 CFM CADR · 674 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

Blueair lists the Blue Pure 211i Max at $349.99, but sales between $230 and $300 come often enough to plan around. At those prices its 435 CFM costs $0.53–$0.69 per CFM, the best ratio on this page, and covers about 674 sq ft. PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 sensing runs auto mode, the app adds schedules, and the top speed draws only 46 W.

You pay for that airflow in filters. The $69.99 cartridge lasts six to nine months, so plan on $93–$140 a year, which pushes the three-year total to roughly $510–$770 depending on the price you catch and how dirty your air is. Its HEPASilent design also adds an electrostatic charging stage you can't turn off. If that bothers you, the Core 600S gives up 44 CFM and keeps things mechanical.

Best Coway under $300: Coway Airmega 350

Coway Airmega 350 cylindrical air purifier

Mid-range · 352 CFM CADR · 546 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

The Coway Airmega 350 is a 352 CFM cylinder rated for about 546 sq ft, with no ionizer and no app account to create. List is $339, owners report sales near $239, and the usual range is $240–$340. Its filter is a single 3-in-1 cartridge: Fresh Starter+ costs $79, and the Allergen+ and Intense Smoke+ versions go up to $89.

Two details set it apart. A hidden sensor-sensitivity setting with three levels lets you calm an auto mode that reacts to every pan on the stove, and the light controls can turn off the display, the LED ring, or both, which matters if it lives in a bedroom. Coway lists 21.5 dB at the bottom and 54.7 dB at the top. Over three years, expect about $480–$610 with filters.

Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty air purifier

Mid-range · 233 CFM CADR · 361 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

The Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty is the purifier our readers click on most, and at $220–$250 it now sits in this price band. Its 233 CFM suits a room of about 361 sq ft, and the filter set (True HEPA, a separate carbon layer and a washable pre-filter) costs about $60 a year, so three years come to $400–$430.

It's quiet at low speed, with a listed 24.4 dB floor, and eco mode shuts the fan off once the air stays clean. It has no app. It also has an ionizer, controlled by a dedicated Ionizer button with its own indicator light; Coway says it is the only model in its current range that produces ions. Leave it off and you lose nothing the filters don't already do. The Mighty is our pick for a 12 × 25 ft bedroom or den rather than an open living area.

Best for bedrooms: Coway Airmega Mighty2

Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N air purifier

Mid-range · 240 CFM CADR · 372 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

The Coway Airmega Mighty2 replaces its predecessor with three changes that matter at night: a 19 dB floor, a light sensor that switches Smart mode to Sleep after three minutes of darkness, and no ionizer at all. Its MegaScan laser sensor reads PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 instead of the old dust sensor. Airflow barely moves, from 233 to 240 CFM, or about 372 sq ft.

It costs $230–$270, about $20 more than the original, and its $69.99 AP-1512N-FP filter (up to 12 months) is about $10 a year dearer. The filters are not interchangeable between the two. For someone who sleeps next to the purifier, the darker, quieter Mighty2 is worth the extra; for an office or den, the original is the better buy. Our Mighty vs Mighty2 comparison covers the rest.

Lowest upkeep: Shark NeverChange Air Purifier MAX

Shark NeverChange Air Purifier MAX HP302 tower air purifier

Mid-range · 204 CFM CADR · 316 sq ft

Paid links: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Disclosure

The Shark NeverChange Air Purifier MAX is the outlier. Its main filter is rated for up to five years, and a replacement HE3FKPET costs $79.99, which spreads out to about $16 a year. Buy it at its common $280–$300 sale price and three years of ownership costs no more than the purchase. List is $399.99, so don't pay that.

The trade is airflow and noise. At 204 CFM it covers about 316 sq ft, the smallest room on this list, and Shark lists a range of 33.8–60.1 dB, louder at the bottom than the Coways. Shark's five-year rating is measured to a 50% drop in CADR under its own lab protocol, so the filter keeps working long after it has lost a good share of its speed. Washable mesh screens catch hair, and the scented odor cartridge is an optional insert you can skip. No app, no ionizer.

How to choose under $300

Size the room first. Divide its floor area by 1.55 to get the smoke CADR you need: a 16 × 22 ft living room (352 sq ft) needs about 227 CFM, which any pick here manages, while a 20 × 27 ft open kitchen and lounge (540 sq ft) needs about 348 CFM, which leaves only the Core 600S, the 211i Max and the Airmega 350. The room size calculator adjusts for taller ceilings.

Then compare ownership, not sticker price. The 211i Max can cost $270 more than the Core 600S over three years at the high end of its filter range, almost entirely in cartridges. Plug your own filter prices into the filter cost calculator before deciding, because sales on filters swing these totals.

Electricity is a small line. On the published maximum ratings and nonstop running at $0.17/kWh, the range runs from about $68 a year (211i Max, 46 W) to about $115 (original Mighty, 77 W). Real use on auto runs well below that.

Two near-misses are worth knowing. The Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max lists at $229.99 for 283 CFM (about 439 sq ft) and draws air from all sides, so it can stand mid-room; it shares the 211i Max's always-on charging stage. The Coway Airmega 250S adds Coway's app to a 249 CFM body, but it only touches this budget at its $270 low point.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most powerful air purifier under $300?

On verified smoke CADR, the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max at 435 CFM, good for about 674 sq ft. It only drops under $300 on sale, though; its list price is $349.99. The Levoit Core 600S (391 CFM) is the strongest unit that regularly sells near $300 without a promotion.

Is it worth spending $300 instead of $200 on an air purifier?

Only if the room is bigger than about 390 sq ft. The best $150–$200 units top out around 250 CFM, while $240–$300 buys 352–435 CFM. For a bedroom, the extra $100 mostly buys quieter low speeds or a nicer sensor, not cleaner air.

Which air purifier under $300 is cheapest to run for three years?

The Shark NeverChange Air Purifier MAX, because its $79.99 main filter is rated for up to five years, so a sale-priced unit costs about $280–$300 over three years with no filter purchase. Its 204 CFM suits a room of about 316 sq ft, so it trades airflow for low upkeep. Among the bigger units, the Levoit Core 600S is cheapest at about $460–$500.

Do any air purifiers under $300 have no ionizer?

Most of them. The Levoit Core 600S, Coway Airmega 350, Coway Airmega Mighty2 and Shark NeverChange Air Purifier MAX are purely mechanical. The original Coway Mighty has an ionizer with its own on/off button, and the Blueair 211i Max and 311i Max use an electrostatic charging stage that stays on.

Should I buy the Coway Mighty or the Airmega 350 for about $250?

Go by room size. The Mighty's 233 CFM covers about 361 sq ft and its filters cost about $60 a year. The Airmega 350 moves 352 CFM, enough for about 546 sq ft, for $79–$89 a year in filters. In a bedroom or small living room the Mighty is plenty; past 400 sq ft the 350 is the one that keeps up.
