About PureAirScout

PureAirScout started with a simple observation: buying an air purifier is a surprisingly expensive guessing game, and most of the "review" sites ranking for air purifier searches lean on scary claims and marketing airflow numbers instead of the one figure that matters — CADR versus the size of your room.

What we do

We research air purifiers the way an obsessive friend would: reading the actual spec sheets and CADR ratings, adding up what a year of replacement filters really costs, comparing warranty terms line by line, and looking for patterns across thousands of verified owner reports. Then we write it up in plain English, with the tradeoffs named, so you can decide in minutes.

We cover:

  • HEPA air purifiers — the category with the biggest price range and the most marketing fog, from $100 room units to $1,000+ machines.
  • Air quality monitors — the instruments that tell you whether your air is actually clean and when to run a purifier.
  • Replacement filters — the repeat purchase that decides a purifier's true cost of ownership, including where a compatible filter is a smart saving.

Plus free calculators for room sizing, air changes, running cost, and filter cost.

What we don't do

We don't claim testing we didn't do (details in how we review), we don't invent specs or prices, and we don't let affiliate commissions pick winners (affiliate disclosure).

Who runs PureAirScout

Luke Ferguson

Founder & Editor, PureAirScout

Luke Ferguson is the founder and editor of PureAirScout. He started it after shopping for a purifier and hitting the same walls everyone does — spec sheets that hide the CADR number that actually matters, marketing that leans on scary claims instead of airflow, and filter costs that only show up after you've bought the machine. His approach is stated plainly on every page: read the actual documentation, CADR ratings, and thousands of verified owner reports, then write it up in plain English with the tradeoffs named. He's upfront about what the site has and hasn't tested hands-on, never invents specs or prices, and doesn't let an affiliate commission move a score.
