The original Coway Mighty (AP-1512HH) takes the AP-1512HH-FP filter set: one True HEPA panel plus two carbon deodorization sheets, at $59.79 regular price at Coway ($56.99 on sale when checked in early October 2026). One box covers a full year, so genuine filters cost about $57 to $60 a year. The newer Mighty2 needs a different part, and that mix-up causes most wrong orders.
Which filter you need
| Version | Part name | In the box | Price seen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fresh Starter (standard) | AP-1512HH-FP, also listed as 3304899 | 1 True HEPA + 2 deodorization filters | $59.79 at Coway ($56.99 sale); $59.79 at Amazon |
| Intense Smoke | AP-1512HH-FP-Smoke | Same layout, smoke-focused carbon | Varies by retailer |
| Allergen | AP-1512HH-FP-Allergen | Same layout, allergen-focused | Varies by retailer |
| Pet | AP-1512HH-FP-PET | Same layout, pet-odor focus | Varies by retailer |
Coway rates the HEPA panel for a year and each deodorization sheet for six months, which is why a set holds two sheets and one panel.
| Fits | Does not fit |
|---|---|
| Airmega AP-1512HH, white or black | Airmega Mighty2, AP-1512N (takes the one-piece AP-1512N-FP, $69.99) |
| Airmega 200M (model AP-1518R) | Airmega 400 and 400S (Max2 pair) |
| AP-1512HHS (Wi-Fi): sold as compatible, but not named on Coway's set page | Airmega 450 (its own cartridge) |
On this site the standard version is the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Filter Set. If you can't tell which Mighty you own, the Mighty vs Mighty2 filter guide walks through the label check.
What actually goes inside
The box doesn't include a pre-filter. The Mighty's mesh pre-filter is a permanent panel that stays with the machine, so a new set replaces only the two layers behind it.
Coway's manual stacks the layers from the front of the purifier backwards: pre-filter, then a deodorization sheet, then the True HEPA panel. Each filter is marked on its front face, and each comes in a plastic bag that has to come off before it goes in. The second carbon sheet is the one owners lose track of. Keep it bagged in a drawer, labeled with the month it's due, and fit it when the Odor LED starts blinking about halfway through the year.
Which version is worth buying?
For dust, pollen and the occasional cooking smell, the Fresh Starter set is the default and the cheapest genuine option. Intense Smoke is the one for a household with a smoker, a wood stove or a wildfire season. Allergen is pitched at hay fever homes, and Pet at litter-box and dog smells.
Coway describes all four in marketing terms and publishes no test data comparing them, so the choice comes down to your main complaint. Specialty set prices moved around between retailers during research, so compare each one against the $59.79 standard set at checkout.
The yearly cost, worked out
A set lasts a year at Coway's intervals, so the arithmetic is simple:
| Over three years | Genuine Fresh Starter |
|---|---|
| Year 1 | Filters ship with the purifier |
| Years 2 and 3 | 2 sets x $56.99 to $59.79 |
| Filter spend | about $114 to $120 |
That is cheaper than the Mighty2, whose AP-1512N-FP cartridge is $69.99 for a similar 12 months. Older figures of about $45 a year for the Mighty are out of date at current Coway pricing.
Coway's lifetimes assume 8 hours a day on the top fan speed. A Mighty left on Auto around the clock in a dusty or smoky home can need its carbon sooner, and because Coway's store sells the sheets only inside a set, an early carbon change means an early set.
Power is the other running cost. Coway rates the AP-1512HH at 77 W but doesn't publish draw per speed, so the ceiling is about $115 a year at $0.17/kWh if it ran flat out all day. Real use on Auto sits well below that. Plug your own pace into the filter cost calculator.
Genuine or compatible?
Third-party Mighty sets are easy to find, from brands such as Fil-Fresh, and usually cost less than Coway's. Their HEPA and carbon claims aren't independently verified, and the fit of the HEPA frame decides how much air slips around it.
There's also a warranty angle specific to Coway. Its US Airmega warranty covers the Mighty's motor and electronic parts for 3 years and other parts for 1 year, and it excludes malfunction or damage caused by non-genuine filters. Inside that 3-year window, the genuine set is the low-risk choice. On an older machine in a guest room, a compatible set is a reasonable saving. Our genuine vs compatible guide covers how to judge a third-party seller.
Swapping the filters and clearing the light
- Unplug the purifier and pull the top of the front cover toward you.
- Press the clip on top of the pre-filter and lift it out without knocking dust loose.
- Swap whichever layer is due, front markings facing out, bags removed.
- Push the pre-filter grip in firmly, refit the cover and plug in.
The fan won't run with the cover off, so a dead purifier after a swap usually means the cover isn't seated. After the swap, hold Filter Reset for 2 seconds. If you changed a filter before its LED blinked, the reset needs Coway's forcible-reset sequence instead, covered step by step in the Coway Mighty filter light reset guide.
Signs it's due before the light
Coway's troubleshooting table points to spent filters for two symptoms: a bad smell coming out of the air outlet, and airflow clearly weaker than it used to be on the same speed. Either one is a reason to check the stack even if no LED is blinking. A gray, matted pre-filter is not one of them; that just needs a wash.
Shopping for a purifier rather than filters? The Coway Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty is still sold, and the Coway Airmega Mighty2 is its successor with the one-piece cartridge.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Coway Mighty filter set fit the Airmega 200M?
Yes. Coway sells one set for both machines and names the Airmega 200M (model AP-1518R) alongside the AP-1512HH on its filter page. Both take one True HEPA panel and two deodorization sheets in the same housing.
Can I buy just the carbon sheets for the Coway Mighty?
Coway's own store lists the Mighty filters as a set, not as loose carbon sheets. If smoke uses up both sheets before the HEPA panel is due, the practical fix is an early second set, which leaves you with a spare HEPA panel for the following year.
What is the number 3304899 on Coway Mighty filter listings?
It appears in the title of the genuine Fresh Starter set on Amazon next to AP-1512HH-FP. Treat it as a cross-check: a listing that carries both numbers and is sold by Coway or Amazon is the genuine set.
Do I need to replace the Coway Mighty pre-filter?
No. The mesh pre-filter is a permanent part that Coway says to clean every 2 to 4 weeks, by vacuum or by rinsing when it is caked. Let it dry completely before it goes back in front of the carbon sheet.
Does the Mighty filter set fit the Wi-Fi AP-1512HHS?
Retailers widely sell it that way, but Coway's set page names only the AP-1512HH and the 200M. Check the filter already inside your HHS: if it is a HEPA panel with separate carbon sheets, the AP-1512HH-FP layout matches.
