Quick verdict
If you own a 5510, 5520 or 5530, this is the filter to buy, ideally when Winix or Amazon drops it from $79.99 into the $50–$65 range. Third-party 2-packs cost far less, but their carbon panels are usually much lighter than Winix's pellet bed. If odors are why you bought a Winix, stay genuine; for dust-only use, a well-reviewed compatible set is a reasonable saving.
Ideal for
- Winix 5510, 5520 and 5530 owners
- Households that rely on the carbon stage for cooking, pet or smoke odors
- Owners whose filter light has hit its 12-month reminder
Not ideal for
- Winix 5500-2 owners (that model needs Filter H, 116130)
- Winix 5300-2 and C535 owners (Filter A, 115115)
The full picture
Filter Q, part number 1712-0123-00, is the one-year filter set for Winix's 5510, 5520 and 5530. The genuine set has two panels: a True HEPA filter and an AOC carbon filter filled with granular activated-carbon pellets. Both are rated for 12 months and both are replaced, not washed. That is the key difference from the older 5500-2's Filter H, which has a washable carbon panel and a different size. The washable mesh pre-filter stays in the purifier and is not part of the set.

Pros and cons
What works
- Exact fit for all three current Winix 5510-family models
- Granular AOC carbon panel holds far more carbon than a carbon-dusted wrap
- One set lasts 12 months, so it is one purchase a year
- Frequently discounted from $79.99 to roughly $50–$65
What doesn't
- Carbon panel is disposable, unlike the 5500-2's washable carbon
- At $79.99 list it costs more per year than most small-room filters
- Many third-party listings reuse the 1712-0123-00 number, so check the seller is Winix

Frequently asked questions
Do the Winix 5510 and 5530 use the same filter?
Yes. The 5510, 5520 and 5530 all use Filter Q, part number 1712-0123-00. Winix's own listing and the genuine Amazon listing name all three models.
Will Filter Q fit the Winix 5500-2?
No. The 5500-2 uses Filter H (116130), which is a different size and has a washable carbon panel. Filter Q is too small for the 5500-2's housing.
Can I wash the carbon filter in Filter Q?
No. Unlike the 5500-2's carbon filter, the AOC carbon panel in Filter Q is meant to be replaced, along with the True HEPA panel, every 12 months. Only the mesh pre-filter on the purifier itself is washable.
How much does a genuine Winix Filter Q cost?
Winix lists it at $79.99. It is often discounted: Winix's store has run it at $49.99, and Amazon's tracked low has been around $63. Third-party 2-packs sell for far less, but their carbon content varies.
How do I reset the filter light after installing Filter Q?
Winix's 5510/5520 manual says to put the pre-filter back, close the front panel, turn the unit on and hold the Filter Reset button for at least 5 seconds until it beeps. The indicator should then go out.
